LaVille Cross Country traveled to Winamac Town Park to participate in the HNAC Championships. Runners compete all season for a spot on the 7-person roster and a chance to earn All-Conference recognition. The girls’ team came up 9 points short against Conference Champions Pioneer. Annie Tyler led the Lancers, finishing 3rd overall (12:13), but could not contribute to team scoring. An HNAC rule prohibits fifth graders from scoring in championship matchups. Despite the setback, LaVille had several runners earn all-conference recognition. Reagan Strang finished 6th (12:51), followed by Maddie Chrisholm in 11th (13:17), Zahra Stackowicz 12th (13:20), Kate Hulsey 13th (13:29). Rory Hulsey & Ella Edison rounded out the rest of the 6, each picking up a personal best in the final race of te season. Sophie Edison and Acelyn Christy were also in the top 7 for LaVille, but did not run HNAC due to the fifth-grader rule. This allowed the Lancers to have 6 runners that could score. Their contributions to the team should be noted, as they pushed all runners to become stronger all season long. In the boys' race, LaVille had 3 runners earn all-conference honors. Brody Foreman finished 13th (12:20), Jace Janiak finished 8th (12:03), and Luis Garcia was the HNAC Champion finishing with a new personal best time, 10:43. Janiak, Foreman, Hyrum Hill, and Wrigley Thomas also finished the season with new personal bests. Thomas was an unofficial runner due to the HNAC fifth-grader rule.
