WINAMAC, IN. - The 2022 Hoosier North Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, October 1. The event will be held at Winamac Town Park and will feature high school varsity and middle school races. The first race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., with subsequent races to start at 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:05 p.m. Awards are scheduled following the final race in the pavilion near the finish line. There will be HNAC Cross Country Championship t-shirts on sale for $15. Individual ribbons, team ribbons, the announcement of all-conference awards and conference team trophies are set to recognize the runners. Tickets can be purchased by clicking https://public.eventlink.com/tickets?t=18863&p=28700 One ticket ($8) is necessary per car load and the ticket is good for varsity and middle school races. Colin Christy will represent the high school in the varsity race. "He had the goal to break 20 (minutes) all season and finally hit that mark last week on Triton's course," said LaVille Cross Country Coach Erin Ecker. "Sub 19 will make him pretty competitive within our conference. "Pioneer has a really good runner, Caston has a few, but Winamac will be the team they have three runners under 19," continued Ecker. "If Colin goes out strong and holds a consistent pace he has a good shot at earning conference recognition." The middle school races will begin at 11:30 a.m. LaVille will have Ella Edison, Hallie Hulsey, Kate Hulsey, Brody Foreman, Luis Garcia, and Aaron Platz entered in the event. "Aaron earned conference recognition last year," Ecker said of the middle school. "He and Luis both have a good chance to make it into the top 10 this year. Culver will have the most competitive team. "Hallie has been in the top 10 the last two years," continued Ecker. "If she is healthy (shins) she should return, and Kate could be right on her heals."
