LAKEVILLE, IN. - The high school bowling season is set to hit bowling lanes throughout the state. LaVille will open the 2022 regular season on Tuesday, October 18 at Chippewa Bowl beginning at 6 p.m. against South Bend Riley. The Lancers will compete in the Michiana West Conference again this season. Kevin Kubsch returns as the LaVille head coach.  He will be assisted by Dave Pluta and Matt Urbanski. "We started with weight training back in August and our first practice was September 15th," said Kubsch. "We have been practicing two days a week." LaVille will have two full teams to compete in the MWC. The LaVille Girls team has seven bowlers, while 14 bowlers fill the LaVille Boys roster. "This year's Girls Team is the biggest group of girl bowlers since we started the program back up three years ago," noted Kubsch. "We have a lot of experience mixed in with some new bowlers which will make it a little challenging but we are seeing a lot of improvement in those new girls." According to Kubsch, the leading bowlers for the girls this year are junior Jaedyn Shaw, sophomores Brooklyn Smith, Bobbie Parker and Neveah Beerwart. Newcomers to the team this year are Chloe Lidgard, freshman Trinity Pickett and freshman Lexi Reed. Chloe is the only senior this season. This year's boys are juniors John Andert, Noah Samuel, Lowell Heminger, Hayden Grindle, Aaron Lee, Nick Samuel, Benji Fort, Syrus Lichtenbarger and Paul Clayton.  This year's sophomore group includes Caden Rush, Wyatt Brown, Ryan Riddle, Andrew Wolford and Sean Kubsch. "We have seen a lot of improvement in these gentlemen," said Kubsch. "There were a number of boys that even participated in summer leagues this past summer which is always good for improving your game. " LaVille has also added junior high students to practice with the high school team. "This is something new this year as we try to develop players for the future," Kubsch explained. "We currently have Ryan Carmichael and Jackson Powers for the boys and Abby Nace for the girls." "We are looking forward to improving our Michiana West Conference Standings from last year," concluded Kubsch. "We have a much improved group of bowlers this year and we really look forward to a great season!" The MWC will play each team once during the season, along with a positional round. "A positional round means as you play against the team that is right next to you in the standings," noted Kubsch. "As your team sits in the standings, that is who you will bowl. So, for example, it would be team 1 v. team 2, team 3 v. team 4 and so on."
