SOUTH BEND, IN. - The LaVille Bowling team opened the 2022 high school season by splitting a pair of games in its match with South Bend Riley. The boys lost the opener, 750-714, in a close furst game against the Wildcats. Lowell Heminger won his head to head match to lead LaVille. In the second contest of the day, Heminger, John Andert and Hayden Grindle all won their head to head matches to lift the Lancers to a 8-2 victory. Even though each team won one game, it was the Wildcats that came away with an 11-9 overall victory. "This was a very close match for the boys," said LaVille coach Kevin Kubsch. The next match will be Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. at Chippewa Bowl. The girls match was also a split in games as the Lancer Ladies won game one, 543-534. Jaedyn Shaw finished strong in the 10th frame to help win that match. Shaw and senior Chloe Lidgard won their individual matches which helped the girls score 7 points in match one. In the second game, Riley picked up a 603-507 win. "Unfortunately the Lady Lancers were swept in the second match," said Kubsch. Even though each team won one game, Riley came away with an 13-7 overall victory. The next match will be Saturday, October 22 at 1 p.m. at Chippewa Bowl. "At the end of the day both the boys and the girls bowled well but we still need to see some improvement in some areas of our game," said Kubsch. "I believe this first match was successful for both teams."
