LAKEVILLE, IN. - It's a basketball night in Lakeville! LaVille Lady Hoops caps off a weekend doubleheader against Logansport at Cox Gymnasium. The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow Coach Nicholas Amor's Lancer squad is 8-2 overall and coming off a 54-27 victory at Winamac on December 9. Brooke Edison came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points to lead LHS. Heaylyn Kwiatkowski had 11 points and Lucy Sherk eight. After Amor's club took a 20-19 halftime lead, his team clamped down defensively. The Lakeville guests allowed Winamac just nine points in the second half, while erupting for 34 points to pull away. At one point, LaVille outscored WHS 17-2 sparked by active hands, ball pressure and a full court defense that turned steals into points. The Lancer defense remains a focal point this season, allowing just 27 points per game and the third-best defense in Indiana. It is also the top-rated Class 2A defense in the state. The Lancer defense forced 29 Warrior turnovers while collecting 22 steals. Lauren Edison and Brooke Edison led the sniper attack with five steals each. London Kwiatkowski added three steals. Eight LaVille players picked up at least one steal. Also in the Winamac game, senior Quincy Blodgett scored her first varsity points. The 5-foot-6 forward snagged a steal and turned that into a layup. Logansport comes into Saturday's game with a 4-6 overall record and a 62-42 win over Muncie Central on December 9. Gabby Richie, Kendra Sutton, and Lydia Goad lead the Berries.
