TOPEKA, IN. – The LaVille Basketball team returns to the hardwood! Coach Michael Edison’s team will travel to Westview for a non-conference game on Friday, January 6. The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow. LaVille is 4-4 overall following a 60-47 loss at Hebron on December 21. Lucas Plummer returned to the floor for the first time this season following an injury during the football regular season. Plummer led the Lancer offense with 17 points. Michael Good had 10 points, Collin Czarnecki nine, and Collin Allen eight. “I thought Lucas Plummer played extremely well for us in his first game back,” noted Edison. “He finished with about 17 points and gave us a lift on offense. I didn’t think we played great half-court defense and there were times we didn’t execute when we needed to.” Looking to get back on the winning track, LaVille hits the road to Westview to open the 2023 portion of the schedule. “They essentially have five guys on the court that can pass, catch and shoot. They are very well rounded,” Edison said of the Warriors. “Yoder, number 11, is their best all-around player. He is a lefty and is very strong and shoots extremely well. He can score anywhere on the court despite being only about 5‘10“. Westview is 6-3 overall and coming off a 63-58 overtime victory over East Noble on January 3. The Warriors average 55.6 points per game and are 3-1 so far this season when they score 55 points or more. “We need to take care of the ball, play solid half court defense, and not give up second chance opportunities,” Edison said when asked about the keys to success against Westview. LaVille is 2-3 so far this season in games played on the road.
