LAKEVILLE, IN. - The LaVille basketball team returns to the hardwood! Coach Michael Edison's squad follows a TCU Bi-County championship with three more games this week. A quick road trip north to South Bend pits the Lancers against Career Academy South Bend. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Success Academy, South Bend, IN. LaVille is 8-7 overall following a 54-52 victory to win the 2023 TCU Bi-County title. The Lancers have won four straight dating back to a 54-50 loss at Knox on January 13. LHS was led by Collin Czarnecki with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals. Ryan James had 12 points and four rebounds and Lucas Plummr chipped in with 10 points and four assists. Career Academy South Bend is 6-6 after a 59-48 Hoosier Plains victory over Elkhart Christian Academy. Tyvon Henry led the Trailblazers with 21 points. Jacary Spates had nine and Deshawn Kirk eight. Henry leads CASB averaging 16.8 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per outing. Spates adds 11.1 and Kalen Allen 8.3 ppg. As LaVille begins another three-game week, Edison knows that his squad will have to be sharp against Career Academy. "I told the guys that this game would be more difficult than the Glenn game simply because it is tough after a big win to keep the same intensity and focus," said Edison. "If a person watches sports, anytime there is a big upset by a team then the following game is very hard for them to maintain the level of play that they exhibited. We need to really focus on coming out and getting off to a good start." When asked what his squad can expect in the non-conference game against the Trailblazers, Edison said, "Career Academy likes to shoot a lot of 3 pointers! They are great offensive rebounders and will push the ball up the court. They have two guys that have started since their freshmen years and therefore have a lot of experience. They are a very good ball club." According to Edison, Spates is a big strong player who can hit the 3 and is a good rebounder Henry is an excellent 3-point shooter and leads them in every category. A Lancer victory will need "The right focus level, rebounding, and handling their press/pressure," Edison concluded. LaVille leads the all-time series 10-0.
