NORTH JUDSON, IN. - It's GAMEDAY! LaVille Lady Hoops returns to the hardwood at the Class 2A North Judson-San Pierre Sectional. The first semifinal has Career Academy South Bend (6-15) facing South Central (Union Mills) (21-3) at 6:30 p.m.. In the second semifinal, LaVille will meet Wheeler at approximately 8 p.m. ET. The Lancers are 18-6 overall following a 56-43 victory over North Judson-San Pierre. Facing a 2-3 Blue Jay zone, LaVille's guards stepped up offensively as Coach Nicholas Amor's club reversed an eight-point loss to NJSP in the regular season. LaVille hit eight 3-pointers in the win, while the LHS defense held Judson to 0-of-13 from the field and just one point in the fourth quarter. “The difference in the game was that our scoring was spread throughout the team,” explained Amor. “We struggled rebounding the first 3 quarters and then in the 4th quarter we started pulling in the defensive rebounds. Heaylyn led us in scoring from all areas on the floor. Brooke and Mikalah did a great job just being patient and finding open looks. When teams double on Heaylyn and Lucy it really opens them up.” Heaylyn Kwiatkowski led the LHS offense with 22 points. Brooke Edison and Mikalah Kuskye added 13 points each for LaVille. LaVille is looking for its first trip to the sectional title game for the first time since 2013. The Lancers dropped a 46-32 decision to Westview in the '13 championship. Wheeler is 4-17 overall and received a first-round bye. The Bearcats lead the all-time series with LaVille, 1-0. WHS picked up a 49-39 win in the only meeting, back in 2016. Saturday's semifinal winners will advance to the 2A Sectional 34 championship on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET at North Judson-San Pierre High School.
