SOUTH WHITLEY, IN. - LaVille Basketball returns to the hardwood! Coach Michael Edison's club finishes off its sixth doubleheader weekend of the season in a non-conference game at Whitko. The Lancers are 11-9 overall after a 51-35 Hoosier North Athletic Conference victory over rival Triton. Pressure defense turned Trojan turnovers into points as LaVille outscored the Bourbon guests 22-5 in the second quarter to break open a close game.; Michael Good scored nine of his 16 points in the second period. Collin Czarnecki also scored 16 points, while Lucas Plummer added eight points and Owen Smith six for LaVille. Whitko enter Saturday's game with a 4-13 record following a 60-49 loss to Central Noble. "Whitko is a lot better than their record shows," Edison said of the Wildcats. "They have played some teams tough and down to the wire on many different occasions. They cannot be taken lightly." The Wildcats average 46.2 points per game, while the WHS defense allows 54.2 points per outing. According to Edison, ball pressure, rebounding - Second chance points for us and eliminating them for the Whitko, and knocking down shots will be keys to a road victory to close out the weekend. Coach Chris Benedict's squad is 4-2 when scoring 46 points or more. LaVille is 8-3 when scoring 53 points or more. There will be no radio or streaming coverage of the LaVille at Whitko game.
