GOSHEN, IN. - The Indiana High School Track and Field state tournament moves into the regional round. LaVille will participate in the Goshen Regional on May 23. Field events are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Foreman Field on the campus of Goshen High School. A trio of LHS student-athletes are set to compete for the right to advance to 2023 IHSAA State Finals. Senior Lucy Sherk is seeded fifth in the shot put after posting a 37'11.5" heave. Sherk is a three-time sectional champion and regional qualifier. Sophomore Moriah Richhart finished fourth in the sectional round of the shot put with a 33'6.25" effort. That was good enough to place her in to the regional top 16. Brooke Edison, a sophomore, finished at 4'10" in the high jump in the sectional, which placed her in a three-way tie. Edison is seeded 14th at the regional. Goshen Regional Qualifiers from the Bremen, Mishawaka, Warsaw Community and Northwestern Sectionals will make up the field of teams. Admission will be $10.00 for kindergarten through adults. Eight places will be scored with the following points awarded to the appropriate placement: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 All awards are provided by the IHSAA. Ribbons will be awarded to individuals placing 1st through 8th in each event. A trophy will be presented to the winning school. A packet with the ribbons earned by each school will be available outside the east end of the press box after the last race has been run and the meet has been certified. Field Events In long jump, discus, and shot put, each contestant will be allowed three attempts. The top nine will return for the three additional attempts. Fully Automatic Timing will be used with watches for backup. Advancement from the Regionals to state Finals – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place regional winners in all individual events and relays plus any individual or relays team meeting the 3 participant Standard in the regional finals of their event. An individual or relay team shall not advance to the state finals from the regional finals unless the time is recorded by fully automatic timing (FAT).
