LANCER DIGEST VOLLEYBALL Walkerton - The varsity volleyball team traveled to the John Glenn Tip-Off Tournament. LaVille finished 1-2 in three matches. The Lancers lost a tough two set match to Tippecanoe Valley in the first pool play match. In the second pool match, LV defeated LaLumiere, 2-0. A meeting with Hoosier North rival North Judson-San Pierre finished up the day, with the Blue Jays winning 2-1. The NJSP match does not count toward the HNAC standings. Reagan Bollenbacher had six aces, Elaina Borton finished with 11 assists, Ava Fuchs collected six blocks, and Borton had 21 digs on the day. Coach Pat Gring's club is now 4-6 overall and will open Hoosier North play against Pioneer on August 22. The JV is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start. LaVille lost a 2-0 decision to the Falcons in the seventh grade match. Bella Higley and Rozz Woodridge each served 3 points followed by Kenzie Foster with 2 points. Woodridge had 3 aces while Foster, Higley and Violet Wheeler had 1 ace each. Wheeler also had a kill. In the eighth grade match, the Lancers lost to Urey. Shelby Jacobson was 3/3 from the service line with 2 aces. Sydney Williams had a kill. "Urey is always a tough match for the Lancers," said eighth grade coach Jen Higley. "The team worked together and encouraged each other despite the tough competition. We have some things to work on in practice and I can’t wait to see all of the improvements we make this season." JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL LAKEVILLE - The junior varsity football team played host to Bremen. LaVille battle before suffering a 22-14 setback to the Lions. Konnor Amor and Noah Menis caught touchdown passes from Brayden Schwitz. Chase Lee also ran for a 2-point conversion. The JV football team returns to action on Monday, August 28 at Triton. The game is scheduled to kick at 5:30 p.m.
