MANCHESTER - LaVille basketball is set to hit the road for non-conference Tuesday night action at Manchester High School. GAMEDAY will take us to one of the founding members of the IHSAA in 1928. The MHS Gymnasium is one of the original 15 founding members of the IHSAA (when it was North Manchester).Upon entering the gym, one can tell that a hoops heritage runs at this school. The gym itself actually went through renovation in 2001 to increase seating and floor space. Back in the 1950s, three schools consolidated with Laketon Tigers, Chester Panthers, and Central Trojans. According to our history annuals, this will be the Lancers first-ever visit to the historic Manchester High School Gymnasium. The Lancers are 3-2 overall following a 52-43 setback to conference rival Jimtown Saturday night. Lance Edison, Andre Gonzales, and Braedyn Foster led LaVille. MHS is 1-3 overall after a 62-57 overtime win against Tippecanoe Valley.  Aaron Reid topped the Squires offense with 22 points.  Wyatt Schroll had 19 and Samuel Winger chipped in 10 points for Manchester. "Manchester is a very high octane type of team," said coach Edison.  "They all seem to run on a high motor and are very active on defense with their hands and their movement.  They have a couple of guys that are shooting around 38% from 3 point range.  They play extremely hard and make a lot of good things happen." Coach Pat Lepper's team is averaging 40.5 points per game and is 1-1 so far this season in games that Manchester scores 47 points or more. "Schroll (#1), a sophomore guard, is all over the place," noted Edison.  "He is a good shooter and he has the ball in his hands much of the time.  He can penetrate and definitely plays beyond his years.  Reid (#3) is their best shooter and can make a lot of things happen as well.  They have 2 strong post players down low in (Lincoln) Young (#34) and (Carson) McLain (#33) that rebound well and mix things up." LaVille is averaging 47.3 points per outing, with a record of 3-0 when scoring at least 47 ppg. The Lancer defense is allowing 43.o points. "We need to have a high level of focus and we must handle their pressure as they will press and trap all over the court," explained coach Edison of the Tuesday night opponent.  "Executing when we are pressured will be the number 1 key." As the Lancers head toward the Winter break and close out the 2025 portion of the schedule, we asked Edison what he feels his club needs to work on. "We need to continue to get better at executing when it is crunch time." Let's play ...
