PLYMOUTH - The LaVille girls wrestling team is set to participate in the IHSAA Plymouth Sectional on Friday, January 2. The event is scheduled to be held at Lincoln Junior High School. Doors are set to open to spectators at 8 am (Door 15), and the first round of wrestling will start at 9am. The second round will start at approximately 10:15am and the third round at approximately 11:45am. The championship round will begin at 1:15pm. All start times for round 2 and beyond are estimated. LaVille, along with 16 other schools are scheduled to compete. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place contestants in each weight class will advance to the regionals. The IHSAA Regional is also scheduled to be hosted by Plymouth High School on January 10. Alyvia Wickizer takes an 8-6 record into competition at the 110 pound weight class. Maddison Adkins, 3-12 so far this year, competes at 115, Myleigh Tolbert looks to challenge for the 140 pound class division following a 19-3 overall mark. Ava Nelson, 3-4 so far, will compete in the 170 pound division. Both Wickizer and Tolbert were regional qualifiers a year ago and are looking to finish in the top four this season. "Alyvia has a great opportunity to make a deep run into the state tournament," said coach Jim Haluck of his senior 110 pound entrant. "She earned a #1 seed at 110# weight class for sectionals. Tolbert has shown improvement this season, finishing 4-0 at the West Noble Tournament, 3-1 at Central Noble Tourney, and 3-0 at the Penn Tourney. "Myleigh also has a great opportunity to make a deep run in the state tournament with a #2 seed for sectionals," continued Haluck about his 140 pound Possibly setting up a rematch vs (Makenzie) Shumaker from Bremen.
