BOURBON - Following a busy holiday weekend at the Wawasee Tournament and runner-up finish, GAMEDAY moves back to the regular season grind. On Tuesday, January 6, LaVille will travel to longtime rival Triton. The junior varsity game is scheduled for a 6pm tip. The varsity will follow from the Trojan Trench Gymnasium. It is the 76th meeting all-time between the Lancers and Trojans. Triton leads 45-30, but LaVille took the last encounter 39-37 in the championship game of the everwise Bi-County basketball tournament just under a year ago. This is the 25th meeting between LaVille since Coach Edison took over the program in 2008-09.  Edison is 13-11 against the Trojans, but his Lancers have just three wins in eight attempts at the Trojan Trench Gymnasium. "Triton is ranked #4 in the state in 1A for a really good reason," said the Lancer skipper.  "They are awful good! Every single person who steps on the court for this is a capable scorer. From one night to the next they can have a different leading scorer and it is not surprising. "They have great hands, are very good in transition and share the ball very well.  Couple that with high skill level that all of their players have with great coaching and they are very tough!  Their top 6 players are Swanson, his younger brother, who is the 6th man, Wood, Riffle, Overmyer, and Patrick!" According to Edison, Triton can "all shoot from the perimeter and create some very difficult matchups! We need to limit the possessions and really force them to work on the defensive end.  We also need to take care of the ball as they are amazing in transition and finish extremely well.  It will be a very big test for us!" Triton averages 57.0 points per game and are 3-0 when scoring at least 57 points.  Defensively, the Trojans allow 36.1 and are undefeated in six games when allowing 36 points or less. LHS averages 51.5 points per outing and it is 6-1 so far this year when scoring at least 51 points.  On defense, the Lancers give up 46.8 ppg and have won four of five games when the opposition scores 46 points or less.
