KNOX - GAMEDAY is ready to travel to Knox as the Indiana Northern State Conference picks up after the holiday break. LaVille currently sits at 1-1 in the INSC standings, while the host Redskins will open with the Lancers from Harold Weinberg Gymnasium. The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6pm ET, with the varsity game to follow. Coach Michael Edison's crew takes a 7-5 overall record into a big game early in the 2026 portion of the schedule. "It will be a big challenge for us tonight as we play at Knox," said Edison. "Their place has always been a tough place to get a victory." LHS is 12-18 in games played at Knox, including a 3-5 mark since Edison, though LaVille leads the all-time series, 36-24. The last LaVille victory at Weinberg Gymnasium came on a 52-36 decision on January 15, 2021. This round of Knox Basketball is led by second-year coach Jason Breden, a former player and 2016 graduate of LaVille High School. "Coach Jason Breden does a very good job with this younger Knox team," Edison said of the former Argos High School head coach. "They are led by Myles McLaughlin and most people have heard of him as an amazing football player, but he is also a very solid basketball player. "Knox runs some very similar things that we do both offensively and defensively so it will be what our guys experience during practice for the most part. Knox can shoot the ball very well and have active hands on defense. They switch on defense and do a good job attacking the ball. They are a very solid team that keeps improving with each game they play." According to Edison, there are more players for the Lancer defense to keep and eye on. "McLaughlin makes them go offensively as he is their team leader. He is a very good driver, shooter, and passer. He is probably equally good at spotting up and shooting from distance as he is at driving and pulling up. He will be a big focus for us. "(Chase) Fletcher (#3) and (Bryson) Venice (24) are really good spot up shooters and can change the dynamics of a game in a hurry. They also have (Cain) Weber (#33) who is a solid defender, rebounder, and screener." Breden's bunch averages 51.8 points per game and are 2-1 so far this year when scoring at least 52 points or more. The Redskins allow 49.5 points per outing. LaVille is 7-5 overall following a 42-37 overtime loss at 1A #5 Triton. Edison's crew averages 50.3 ppg and are an impressive 6-1 when scoring at least 50 points or more this season. LHS allows 46.4 per outing. The Lancers are 3-3 in road games so far this year, while Knox is 2-1 in home games. "Offensively, the game will come down to how we execute in our half court sets and how we do at taking care of the ball," said Edison when asked about keys to being successful at Knox. "Defensively we need to stop their transition, match up with their shooters, and only give them one opportunity." Let's play ...
