LAKEVILLE - GAMEDAY is set to be at the New Prairie v LaVille high school basketball game on January 13, 2026. The Cougars and Lancers, once rivals in the Northern State Conference (NSC), picked up the rivalry in the 24-25 season.  They have also met in the everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament. Coach Aimee Litka's team comes in with a 3-14 overall record following a 47-32 loss to Mishawaka Marian on January 8. New Prairie has a youthful team being led by senior Hannah Hawkins-Wiesner and Envy Hesch.  The Cougar offense is led by freshman Makenzie Griffiths (6.9 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per outing).  Sophomore Brooklynne Shepherd (5.5 ppg), junior Chloe Deutscher (5.3/6.9), and Hawkins-Weisner (5.1 ppg) are expected to contribute. Litka's squad averages 37.9 points per game and are 3-6 overall when scoring at least 38 points in a game.  The defense allows 53.1 per outing. LaVille is 5-10 overall and is coming off a 49-26 loss to INSC rival John Glenn. Dennis Markin led LaVille with 9 points, while Faith Mejer and Ava Weil added seven points each. Coach Nicholas Amor's club averages 36.9 ppg and is 5-3 when scoring at least 37 points.  LHS allows 44.3 per outing, so defense could play a big role in tonight's game. LHS is 1-5 in games played at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium, while New Prairie is 2-3 in games played on the road. Mejer leads LaVille, averaging 15.2 points and 2.4 steals.  Markin is tops in rebounds at 7.1, while adding 2.8 assists. Let's play ...
