LAKEVILLE - One of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments in Indiana is set to tip off beginning Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The 61st everwise Bi-County basketball tournament is a week-long battle for the eight-team field that includes Argos, Bremen, Culver Community, John Glenn, New Prairie, Oregon-Davis,Triton, and host LaVille. Following Tuesday's games, varsity girls will continue Jan 22, with varsity boys picking up Jan 23. JV semifinals will tip at 9 am Saturday, with Championship Saturday starting with JV girls at 12pm, followed by JV boys. The varsity girls' finale starts at 6:30 Saturday night, with the boys' championship following. All of the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday games are scheduled to be played at LaVille Jr-Sr High School. Defending champions are Bremen, who won the girls' title 42-29 over John Glenn, as the Lions earned their fourth championship under coach Alex Robinson, and second in the last four years. LaVille won the boys' crown, following the game-winning shot from Collin Czarnecki with 2.4-seconds left as the Lancers upset #5 Triton, 39-37. It was the fourth title for the Lancers under coach Michael Edison, and second in the last three years. The 2026 edition of everwise Bi-County basketball will begin at John Glenn, Oregon-Davis, New Prairie, and LaVille. The quarterfinal varsity games are scheduled for girl-boy doubleheaders, with the varsity girls scheduled to tip at 6pm local time. The varsity boys will follow. GAMEDAY had a chance to chat with LaVille coach Michael Edison about which team he feels is the 2026 everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament favorite on the boys' side, and also the rematch from just two weeks ago at Triton. "I would say Bremen would be the favorite," noted the LaVille coach. "And followed very closely behind them would be Triton." LaVille traveled to Bourbon for a rivalry game against Triton just two weeks ago. The Trojans came up with an overtime victory. "I felt our defense at times was really good against Triton the first time around," Edison said of the 42-37 OT loss on January 6. "They did not shoot the best and definitely are capable of shooting better. It will be a very tough matchup for us once again. We need to focus on getting high percentage shots and taking care of the ball." The Lancers are coming off a sluggish start against Elkhart Christian Academy January 17, before rallying for a 48-21 victory. "Well, we can't expect to win against a team as good as Triton if we have a poor first half," said Edison. "We need to get off to a better start and play with a lot of intensity. "We have got to challenge their shooters from outside. Long shots mean long rebounds so we must attack the boards and get those long rebounds. Taking care of the ball and getting high percentage shots will be another huge key."
