LANCER DIGEST It was a light night for LaVille Athletics on Monday, August 28. The junior varsity football team faced Triton, while the junior high volleyball team also played the Trojans. JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL Brayden Schwitz tossed three touchdown passes and rushed for another to lead the JV football team to a 34-18 victory over Triton. Cole Stafford scored a pair of TDs - he crossed the goal line via the ground and the air. Stafford also had a 2-point conversion. Chase Lee was also on the receiving end of a touchdown pass and also collected a 2-point conversion. Avery Garrett closed out the scoring with a TD reception. The Lancer JV (1-1) will return to action on Saturday, September 2, at Pioneer. Kick is scheduled for 10 a.m. JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL The 8th grade girls volleyball team lost 2-0 Monday night against Triton. Shelby Jacobson and Sydney Williams led the way in serving. Jacobson was 6-for-7 with 2 aces. Williams completed a 7-of-9 effort along with 2 aces. "They fought hard and showed improvement from last week’s game," said LaVille coach Jen Higley. "We’re fighting injury and sickness right now but are ready to play again tonight!" The 7th grade team picked up a 2-1 victory over Triton. Action continues on Tuesday, August 29, as LaVille plays host to Career Academy of South Bend. The first match is scheduled for a 5:15 p.m. start.
