LAKEVILLE - It's GAMEDAY as LaVille is set to play host to Career Academy South Bend on January 27 at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. Career Academy is 8-10 overall following a 53-48 victory over Fort Wayne Canterbury at the Culver Academy Tournament on January 24. The Trailblazers are led by senior Taveon Jackson, who according to LaVille coach Michael Edison is "I feel is their best player." We had a chance to chat with Coach Edison about the upcoming game. "Career Academy presses and traps a lot and they run a 2–3 zone," explained the Lancer boss. "We will have to make good, crisp, clean passes and come to meet the ball so we don't turn the ball over. They impressed me when I saw them over at Wawasee as they play extremely hard and find a way to stay in tough games." LaVille improved to 10-6 overall after a 56-46 win over New Prairie on January 22. Lance Edison scored 28 points, while Andre Gonzales added 12 points and Caleb Skiles chipped in with 10 points. Edison's crew averages 50.4 points per game and are 8-1 when scoring at least 50 points in a game. The Lancer defense allows 56.4 per outing. Coach Darren Daniel's CASB team averages 47.9 points a game and are 6-1 when scoring 48 points or more this season. The Trailblazers' defense allows 54.7 an outing. "All of them have very good hands and play pretty disciplined for a team that likes to get up and go," closed coach Edison of the Tuesday night opponent. LHS leads the series 14-1, with the lone CASB victory coming 71-62 at the 2A North Judson Sectional March 4, 2023. Let's play ...
