LAKEVILLE - It's a football night in Lakeville! Following a 29-13 Hoosier North victory over 1A #11 Pioneer a week ago, LaVille improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 HNAC play. The 2A #3 Lancers close a three-game home stand against Winamac on September 9.  Kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Lancer Field. The Warriors enter Week #4 with an 0-3 overall mark, and 0-2 in loop play."After the Pioneer game we figured out how to play a complete game running and throwing the ball which is going to be essential as we move forward in the season," LaVille head coach Jeff Kaiser analysed. "We must be able to do both of these offensively to keep the defense honest.  I felt we also played 4 quarters of LaVille football like we are capable of doing.  "Practice this week has been another solid week so far up to this point.  We emphasize to the team that if we do not practice well, unfortunately that is usually how a team will play on Friday night, so we are pleased with these last couple of weeks of practice." As the Lancers close out early-season play at home on Sept. 8, they will hit the road to Caston on Sept. 15, then back to LaVille for a Sept. 22 HNAC battle with Knox."The HNAC is going to be extremely competitive week in and week out as always," explained Kaiser.  "The key for us against the Warriors is we must show right away who the better team is and play with that edge for 48 minutes. We need to value our possessions and make plays.   Fast, physical and disciplined football which is what LaVille Football is all about." On defense, Winamac will play a 4-3 and 5-2 against us.  They are aggressive with their LB play and upfront they are big and physical.  Key guys for them on defense are #70 DT (Wyatt Wheeler), #66 ( Max Keller) & #15 (Allen), which are both LB's.  What concerns us is that Winamac seems to still be trying to find their identity and if they find it against us we are going to be playing not to lose instead of playing like we are truly capable of playing. They are physical and fly around so we must match that style of play." On What Impressed Him About LaVille Against Pioneer:"What really stood out was that we were without our starting RB/DB, which we knew we weren't going to have as we started the week and we challenged guys to step up and fill the void.  For the most part each player did just that.  Now we must continue having guys step up week in and week out." On LaVille Players That Have Made A Pleasant Surprise So Far This Season:"Xzavian LaFave has been solid at OLB moving to that position after starting at Safety the past two seasons, Brandon Nettrouer at Center moving from his FB spot that he played last season.  Eli Platz at our Guard position and a rotating defensive lineman.  Nehemiah Stanley starting at our other Guard spot and Brock Gest playing the Nose Tackle position on D Line.   Each of these guys are playing a valuable role in our schemes weekly." – Jeff Kaiser, LaVille head football coach G A M E D A YWHO: Winamac (0-3) at 2A #3 LaVille (3-0) WHERE: Lancer Field, Lakeville, IN.
