Today is Thursday, August 18 and a very busy competition day for LaVille Athletics. GIRLS SOCCER Returns to the pitch following a 4-0 loss to South Bend Adams in the season-opener. LHS will travel to Jane's Park to face a Bremen team that is 1-1 on the young season.  The Lions opened the season with a 4-3 loss to Bethany Christian and defeated South Bend Riley 8-1 on August 16. The LaVille-Bremen match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kick. BOYS SOCCER Is back in action following a 6-2 loss to Mishawaka to open the season. Coach Kevin Christy's club is set to face Trinity Greenlawn, who will be hitting the pitch for its first match of the 2022 season. Action gets under way at Newton Park at 5 p.m. CROSS COUNTRY Will open the season at home against Westville. The meet will feature the junior high and high school co-ed cross country teams. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. VOLLEYBALL Returns to the court following an emotional victory over rival John Glenn.  LaVille is scheduled to travel to Bethany Christian for a non-conference match against the Bruins. The Lancers started slowly Wednesday against the Falcons, dropping the first set, 25-11. LHS rallied to win the next three sets, with Cailtyn Goffinet serving up an ace to secure the come-from-behind win. The LaVille at Bethany Christian junior varsity match is scheduled to serve at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow. GIRLS GOLF returns to the links following its match Monday at Pretty Lake against Bremen, Plymouth, and Tippecanoe Valley. Lancer golf travels to Pondview Golf Course for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match against North Judson-San Pierre and Pioneer. Tee time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
