GIRLS SOCCER The state-ranked girls soccer team had a busy week - facing 1A #7 Trinity Greenlawn and then meeting #14 Argos. In a match up among top 20 teams, Trinity Greenlawn paid a visit to Newton Park. LaVille battled before droppin a 5-1 decision to the 1A #7 Titans. Trinity scored a goal in the first minute of the match, before LaVille's Mikalah Kuskye found London Kwiatkowski for a goal to tie the score at 1-1. The score remained tied at 1-all until a four-goal outburst in a 14 minute stretch in the second half helped the Titans pull away for a 5-1 win. The Lancers then faced off against 1A #14 Argos on the road. Coach Brandon Shafer's club battle to a 1-1 tie with the Dragons. LaVille moves to 6-2-2 and are set to travel to LaPorte on September 16 for an 11 a.m. match. * * * * * BOYS SOCCER The boys soccer team played host to Lakeland Christian Academy for senior night at Newton Park. LaVille lost a 4-0 decision to the Cougars. The next match will be against New Prairie on September 16 at Newton Park. On Thursday, LaVille faced Bremen in a non-conference match. The seventh grade suffered a 2-0 loss to the Lions. Katelynn Wright led in serving with 5 points (1 ace). Lilly Conner and Kenzie Foster also had 1 ace each. Savannah Wagner led in passing with 5. In the eighth grade match, the Lancers battled before suffering a 25-14, 25-16 setback. "We had some good servers last night," said eighth grade coach Jen Higley. ":As a team, we were 26/30 from the service line with 2 aces. Missed serves have been something we’re really trying to improve and last night was a step in the right direction." According to Higley, Olivia Harmon, Addie Jones, Mady Geraghty, and Annabelle Carder were key in the service game. The junior high volleyball team return to the court on September 18 for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match against Winamac. The seventh grade is set to serve at 5:30 p.m., with the eighth grade to follow.
