LAKEVILLE - A balancing act. No, LaVille graduate Braedyn Foster doesn't plan on joining the circus. He does, however, shed the light on how important it is to balance your time when you are a three-sport student athlete. "When I first heard that I was going to be the 2026 Dale E. Cox Male Athlete of the Year, I was excited," said Foster, who earned four letters in football, basketball, and baseball. "I felt very proud of myself for achieving the award as well." For his hard work in the classroom, Braedyn earned the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, along with several additional recognitions. This school year, he was named to the IFCA Region 2 all-star team. He also was one of 25 Moose Krause football scholar athletes to earn recognition for high academic achievement, along with school/community involvement. Braedyn was also named as 24 seniors named to the Colts/IFCA Academic All-Star team, which honors state high school football players who excel in the classroom as well as on the field. "Being a student athlete was tough," said Foster who became the 1oth student athlete to earn 12 varsity letters in the past 10 years. "You definitely have to be good at balancing multiple different things between practices, games, and school. You just have to put in the work, just like you would if you were for the sports you play." Another aspect that Braedyn talked about included being a Lancer, having good leaders as coaches, and helping represent Lancer Nation. "Being a LaVille athlete these past 4 years has been a blessing for sure," said the Having all of the great coaches that I've had has been great in my development in sports and as a person. I'm very proud to have worn the Lancer jersey for four years and represented the school." According to Foster, he was involved with the National Honor Society and DECA. He was president of NHA and says he had fun participating in both. His future plans are to attend the University of Saint Francis and study business administration and also play football. During our discussion, we had the chance to talk about advice he would give to a younger self and younger athletes today. "Words of advice I'd give my younger self would be to keep working, lift as much as possible, and get everything done as soon as possible.Advice to younger athletes would be to keep working, never quit, be the hardest worker in the room, and to take school seriously, because that's where it matters most." As we closed our time, Braedyn commented: "I'd like to thank all of the fans and families that have come to see me play during my four years. I hope I was able to make you guys proud and hope someone can keep that going for you in the future." Congratulations, Braedyn!
