Goshen - The pairings for the 30th Annual IHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament were drawn andannounced with 305 boys teams, a record number, set forcompetition this week. The 305 boys teams equallast year’s record number.  There will be 16 sectionals in each ofthree classes running October 2-7.Regional semifinals will be played Oct.11-12 with regional championships onOct. 14. Semi-States are Saturday, Oct.21 at four sites with the winnersadvancing to the state championshipmatches on Oct. 27-28 at MichaelCarroll Stadium at IUPUI inIndianapolis. Assignments will be made following the semi-state matches. LaVille will open the state tournament in the Class 1A Bethany Christian Sectional.  There will be five teams in Goshen. 1A #20 Elkhart Christian (10-4-2) will face fellow Hoosier Plains Conference rival Lakeland Christian Academy (8-7-1) in the October 2 quarterfinal at 6 p.m. The Lancers drew the 1A #4 Bruins in the 5 p.m. semifinal on October 4.  In the nightcap, Trinity (11-3-1) faces the winner of the ECA-LCA match at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday winners collide for the Bethany Christian Sectional championship on October 7 at 2 p.m. There will be 95 schools entered in the 2023 1A state tournament.  Bethany Christian is the defending sectional champion. Admission will be $7 per session or $15 for an all-session ticket.  Children age 5 and younger will be admitted free.
