BOYS SOCCER GOSHEN, IN. - The LaVille boys soccer team opened the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A state tournament Wednesday. Coach Kevin Christy's club battled the host Bruins early before giving way in a 9-0 setback to the #4 team in the state at Bodicker Athletic Fields. Trying to utilize patience and ball control LaVille worked to manage the tempo of the match.  Bethany Christian, however, pressured the ball and used its quickness to create passing lanes and shot opportunities.   Those opportunities soon put the Bruins on the board. Christy's defense did a very good job in the early stages of the match in fending off potential goals. Lancer goalkeeper Ryan Maenhout also made several saves and deflections to keep Bethany's offense at bay.  Maenhout finished with 20 saves for LaVille. But the Bruin depth soon proved too much while advancing to the championship against Trinity Greenlawn October 7 at 2 p.m. LaVille finished with a 2-12 overall record and will graduate leading scorer Kaiden Cundiff.
