GIRLS SOCCER ARGOS - The girls soccer team was unable to open the 2023 Indiana High School Athletic Association state tournament on Thursday due to heavy rain and field conditions. Due to the postponement, the Bremen and LaVille match will be played on Friday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the Class 1A Sectional #35 championship at Eugene Snyder Field. Thursday's first match between Trinity Greenlawn and the host Dragons was played through moderate to heavy rain before being halted with 4:55 remaining in the match due to the weather and field conditions. The Titans were considered the winner following a 6-0 lead over the Dragons. Trinity will advance to the October 7 title match at 7 p.m. at Argos High School. VOLLEYBALL BAUGO TOWNSHIP - The volleyball team traveled to Jimtown to close the 2023 regular season Thursday. After splitting the first two sets, LaVille rallied for 25-23 and 25-17 wins to finish the contest with a 3-1 victory. Reagan Bollenbacher led the offensive attack with seven kills, while Caitlyn Goffinet sparked the defense with 12 digs. In the junior varsity match, LaVille fell 2-0 to the Jimmies. LaVille improves to 12-18 overall and will face Wheeler (13-15) in the opening round on Thursday, October 12.  The first match will pit Hebron (15-14) against North Judson (21-10) at 6:30 p.m. The LV-Wheeler match will follow. LaVille lost in the 8th grade match, 2-0. Olivia Harman had four aces, while Shelby Jacobson added a kill. On the 7th side, the Lancers advanced to the HNAC Final Four as the Cavaliers did not have a full 7th grade team. LaVille is scheduled to play either Triton or Knox in the first semifinal match at Culver Jr-Sr High School.
