Wolford, Kubsch, Andert Help Bowling Off To Quick Start

SOUTH BEND - The LaVille bowling team came out of the gate quick and bulldozed its way to an 18-2 victory over John Glenn. It was the first Michiana West Conference high school bowling match of the season at Chippewa Bowl. A veteran line up cranked out 773 pins to win the first game by 253 pins over the Falcons. John Andert led the way for LaVille with a 182, while AndrewWolford added a 166, and Sean Kubsch 143 to get LaVille off right. Hayden Grindle and Ryan Riddle also picked up key pins to make it a clean sweep 10-0 in the opener. Wolford led the way by notching the first Lancer 200+ score with a 201 in the nightcap.  Chase Schmidt racked up a 168 and Lowell Heminger won his head-to-head contest, besting the John Glenn counterpart by 12 pins. LHS picked up key shots in the MWC opener to finish with a 1529 pin total, while the Falcons combined for a 1171. LaVille gets back into conference action on October 22 against South Bend Saint Joseph. Quick's Lanes in Plymouth will host the action at 2 p.m. On the girls side, John Glenn was able to sneak out a one-pin victory in the opener (494-493) before the Falcons made it a clean sweep by outdistancing LaVille 536-497 in match two. Jaedyn Shaw scored 122-131 for a 253 series to lead the Lancers.  Brooklyn Smith went 116-115 for a 231 from the #2 position.  Christian Bau rolled a 164 series and won two valuable points for LV. The competition was fierce as these two teams were evenly matched, with John Glenn pulling away by just 40 pins overall (1030-990). LaVille is set to face Penn in a Michiana West Conference match on October 22 at Quick's Lanes in Plymouth. Action is scheduled to get under way at 4:30 p.m.
