LaVille Lady Hoops Reveal 2023-24 Schedule

LAKEVILLE, IN. – The LaVille High School girls basketball team has announced their schedule for the 2023-24 season. There are 12 regular season games plus the Everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament to see the Lancers at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. The regular season begins on Thursday, November 2 as LaVille plays host to Jimtown in the season-opener. The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. with the varsity to follow. The Jimmies finished with a record of 9-14 a year ago, including a 34-32 win over LHS in Baugo Township. LHS continues its string of eight straight non-conference games against 2022-23 IHSAA 2A Sectional champion South Central (Union Mills) on November 4. The Porter County Conference titleists closed with a 23-4 mark a year ago. The Satellites lost 64-52 to Central Noble in the IHSAA Regional round. Coach Nicholas Amor's club continues at Bremen November 7. The Lions and Lancers squared off twice in 2022-23. LaVille won the regular season game and then upended Bremen in the championship game of the then TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament. (The tournament is now considered the Everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament). Purdue Polytechnic South Bend is new to the LHS schedule and will visit Cox Gymnasium on Nov. 10. The techies replace Career Academy South Bend. The non-conference run continues with Culver Academy on November 17, Elkhart Christian Academy on November 21, and Mishawaka on November 28. All three games are scheduled to be played at the friendly confines of Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. The Lancers open Hoosier North Athletic Conference action on November 29 at Triton.December opens with home games against South Bend Clay on December 2 and at HNAC rival Winamac December 8. The conference game with Winamac is set for a girl/boy HNAC doubleheader. After eight home games to start the season, LaVille returns to the road for a trio of games. The Lancers travel south down US 31 to Logansport for a Saturday evening visit to play the Berries. Logan finished 14-10 overall last season, including winning 10 of 13 down the stretch before dropping a 46-29 decision to Laf. Harrison in the sectional finals. On December 13, LaVille treks north up Michigan Street to South Bend Riley before Pioneer plays host to an HNAC girl-boy doubleheader on December 15. The Panthers had another great season, going 21-4 overall, and won 13 of 14 before a 46-44 heart-breaking loss to North Miami in the sectional championship. Rounding out the 2023 portion of the schedule will be a home date against rival John Glenn on December 19. Following Christmas break, Amor's club starts the new year with a trio of HNAC games to help prepare for the 59th Everwise Bi-County basketball tournament. Defending HNAC champion Caston will host the Lancers on January 6. The Comets opened last season 19-0 and ranked in the top 20 in all classes allowing 33 points per game a season ago. A trip to North Judson-San Pierre is scheduled for January 9. Then, the third girl/boy varsity doubleheader of the season as Cox Gym hosts Knox on January 12. LaVille will once again play host to the Everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament. Pairings for that will be determined in early December. The event will be January 15 through January 20. Opening round play will be at four sites, including LaVille on January 15 and January 16. The junior varsity semifinals are on January 17, with girls semifinals and consolations on January 18. The boys take center stage for semifinals and consolations on January 19 before 'Championship Saturday' fills Cox Gymnasium on January 20.Argos, Bremen, Culver, John Glenn, New Prairie, Oregon-Davis and Triton will all join LaVille in the 59th edition of the Everwise Bi-County Basketball Tournament in 2024. The regular season concludes with a pair of home games - Argos visits the 'Cox Box' January 25, followed by HNAC foe Culver on January 27. The Cavaliers were one of the most improved teams last year, finishing 10-13 overall and winning 3 of the final 5 games. Culver lost a 62-58 triple overtime thriller against Argos in the sectional. LaVille is scheduled to participate in the IHSAA Class 2A North Judson-San Pierre Sectional. The field in Sectional #34 will include five teams - Career Academy South Bend, LaVille, South Central (Union Mills), Wheeler, and the host Bluejays. Hebron does not have a girls basketball team in 2023-24.
