LAKEVILLE - It's a basketball night in Lakeville! LaVille Lady Hoops will open the 2023-24 season against Jimtown November 2.  The junior varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow. Among the returning players is Justyce Williams, a 5'8" senior guard, led the Jimmies in scoring a season ago - 13.5 points per game.  Junior Natalie Butler, a 5'11" forward, added 7.6 ppg and nearly 5 rebounds per outing.  Abbey Brown, 5'7" guard-forward, helped out with 7.2 ppg and 4.8 rpg.  Senior forward Alexis Garretson added 3.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg. Shaunte Williams returns for her fourth season at Jimtown.  The Jimmies averaged 39 points per game in 22-23, going 7-2 when JHS scored 39 points or more.  On defense, Jimtown allowed 45 ppg. LaVille dropped a 34-32 decision in Baugo Township on November 3, 2022.  The Lancers had two opportunities to tie or take the lead in the final 19 seconds.  After tying the game at 32-32 with 19.7 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Lancers put on the full court press. LHS tried to steal a cross court pass, but was whistled for a foul. Jimtown made the second of two free throws to give Jimtown a 33-32 lead with 13.9 seconds left.  On the ensuing inbound pass, LaVille attempted a half-court pass, but the pass was stolen by the Jims.  The Lancers fouled with 11 seconds left.  Jimtown made the first free throw, but missed the second and Lucy Sherk grabbed the rebound for LaVille.  The Lancers pushed the ball up the floor quickly. Sherk finally ended up with the ball and attempted a shot near the 3-point line, but Jimtown blocked the shot as the buzzer sounded. The Jimmies lead the series 13-11 over the last 20 years.  Jimtown's victory ended a 6-game winning streak by LaVille dating back to 2015-16.
