KNOX - It's week six of the IHSAA football regular season. And the Knox Redskins and LaVille Lancers renew their gridiron series for the 43rd edition. The two teams have split the last six meetings, with Knox winning the last three games. Kick is scheduled for 7:30pm at Community Field September 25 in Knox, Indiana. Knox is coming in with a 1-4 overall record after a 30-9 victory over John Glenn last week. The win broke a four-game losing streak for Coach Russ Radtke's club. LaVille also brings in a 1-4 overall record, but are on a four game losing streak. The Lancers are looking for their first INSC victory. We had a chance to chat with LHS coach Matt Thacker in preparation for the third straight INSC game. "They have gone back under Center and that has been a huge help for them," observed Thacker about this week's opponent. " Knox has gone back to what makes Knox, Knox and it is working for them. The Redskins racked up their second highest offensive yardage output in their victory against John Glenn. "Ashton Walker (#7), their QB, is a threat to run the ball or throw the ball, but he does a good job with his legs," said the Lancer skipper. "They do a lot of blocking down and kicking out defenders and it is very good for them. Donaven Witas (#29) and David Navarro (#4) all do a great job of running the football." Defensively, Knox held the Falcons to just nine points a week ago. While on offense, KHS did not attempt a pass. "Mason McLaughlin (#5) plays OLB and is pretty good and aggressive," noted Tacker. "Walker (#7) also plays safety and can cover and get involved in the run game pretty well. Their defensive line moves well and they will make things difficult for us." As Thacker continues to help LaVille adjust to some new things, one thing he is big on is believing in one another. "Believe in the guys next to you no matter what, good or bad," Thacker said. "Encourage one another during the good and bad." Tonight, the Lancers look to get back on track against a rival conference opponent. As we closed our chat, we asked the Lancer boss about keys to being successful Friday night. "We must play physically at the point of attack and finish through the whistle, every play." Game on ...
