ROCHESTER - The LaVille girls bowling team faced a pair of Michiana West Conference teams recently. Play opened with a position round match against South Bend Adams, followed by a second match, this time with New Prairie. In the opening match, despite being a bowler down, LaVille gave the Eagles all they could handle before Adams came away with the overall series win. Just 61 points separated the Lancers from the Eagles in game one and game two. A full team of five bowlers would have put LaVille right there. Brooklyn Smith collected high-game and high-series to lead the Lancer effort. Smith and Christina Bau each earned a point by defeating their respective opponent in the both games. Smith finished the first match with a team-high series of 293. In the second match of the day, LaVille seemed to catch fire. The Lancers finished with a team total of 580 which was just 35 pins behind New Prairie. Scoring points for LaVille was the trio of Allison Easterday, Bau, and Smith. Smith bowled a 176 in game one and finished with a 319 series. Smith once again took the lead as the top bowler for LHS with a 143 in the second game. Smith, Easterday and Shaw earned a team point after defeating the opposition. LaVille will continue MWC action November 11 against Rochester at 1 p.m. and a 3:30 p.m. battle with South Bend Adams.
