LAKEVILLE - After drawing the IHSAA Class 1A Sectional #34 bye, the LaVille High School girls soccer team will return to the pitch Wednesday, October 7. The Lancers are set to face Marquette Catholic for the first time in recent history. Opening up the second night of action at Newton Park will be #11 Trinity Academy (12-3) and #8 Elkhart Christian Academy (13-2-1). The first semi final is scheduled to kick at 5:00 PM. Trinity shutout Westville 9-0 on Monday, while ECA nipped #14 Bremen 3-2 to advance to the semis. The Eagles defeated the Titans 4-1 on September 22 at ECA. We had a chance to ask LaVille Coach Kevin Christy about Wednesday's opponent. "Keys to success will be playing as a team both offensively and defensively," said the Lancer boss. "This is a high quality sectional and we look forward to the challenges ahead.  To win this sectional and dance we will need to maintain our high standards of effort and desire.  We have every reason to believe that will be the case.  We like the direction we are headed and look forward to the tournament." Trinity leads the recent series 5-3 over LaVille, dating back to 2016.  The last Lancer victory came following a 6-2 win on September 24, 2019. A special note to fans, Newton Park will be open on both the West and East side of Newton Park due to the expected crowds. We will have updates for both semifinal matches on @LVAthletics on X.
