Neese Finishes 3-1 At Raider Classic

MIDDLEBURY - The LaVille wrestling team participated in the Raider Classic over the weekend. LaVille, a Class 2A-size school, battled much larger schools at the event. Teams like Fort Wayne Snider, Homestead, Northfield, Penn and host Northridge were among those in the field of teams. Coach Chip Cochran's team finished 0-5 as a team overall, falling to the Norsemen, Panthers, Spartans, Kingsmen, and Raiders. This was a great opportunity for Cochran's squad to see some of the best wrestlers in northern Indiana. Jonathan Neese was the top LaVille wrestler, going 3-1 on the day. The LaVille junior defeated Cail Dunphy of Northfield, Caleb Evans of Homestead, and Patrick Conrey of Penn. HIs lone loss of the day was a 5-2 decision against #19 Travis Henke of Northridge. Neese is now 8-1 so far this season and rated #17 by Indiana Mat in th 215-pound weight class. Among other LaVille winners included Adam Fort, Brock Gest, Brandon Nettrouer, Caleb Rock, and Austin Wright on the day. LaVille returns to action on December 16 at the Mike Bottorff Invitational. Joining the Lancers will be Lafayette Jefferson, North Judson-San Pierre, Mishawaka Marian, Pioneer, and South Bend St. Joseph. Wrestling will be held on three mats at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
