GAMEDAY - Pioneer Next For LaVille Lady Hoops

ROYAL CENTER - It's time for LaVille Lady Hoops! On December 15, coach Nicholas Amor's club will travel to Pioneer for a girl-boy doubleheader. The varsity girls and junior varsity boys will tip things off at 6:30 p.m. The gals will open in the main gym, while the guys hit the floor in Gym #2. Around 8 p.m., the LaVille boys basketball team follows in the main gym. The JV girls square off in Gym #2. The game will be live streamed by clicking on: Live Stream: https://team1sports.com/pioneertv/ This is the 10th meeting between the two schools, with Pioneer holding a 5-4 edge. The last victory for the LaVille gals came by a count of 50-34 on December 15, 2017. In the 2017 game, LaVille's Shelfie Zeiger led all scorers with 16 points. Lindsey Aschenbrenner had 15 and Aryn Eash chipped in with 11. The Lancers overcame a 23-18 halftime deficit to outscore the Panthers 24-2 in the third quarter to take control of the game. Pioneer is 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the Hoosier North following a 55-25 loss to Caston. PHS averages 31.1 points per game and gives up 42.4 ppg. Juniors Mikenna Landis, Madelyn Parsley, and Tia Freshour lead the Panther offense. Landis is just a shade under 10 points per outing, while also adding a bit over 3 rebounds a game. Parsley kicks in 8.3 ppg and 4.0 rpg, while Freshour contributes 7.7 ppg and 4.1 boards per contest. Coach Adam Berry's team is looking for its first home victory of the season after starting off 0-3. LaVille improved to 4-8 overall and checks in at 0-2 in the HNAC following a 47-30 victory over South Bend Riley. Brooke Edison, a 5'8" junior, led the Lancers with a career-high 19 points against the Wildcats. She was just a pinch shy of a triple-double, hauling down 9 rebounds and was the top sniper with 9 steals. Faith Mejer, a 5'9" sophomore, also hit for a career-high 11 points. She also added 2 rebounds and 2 steals for LHS. Amor's team is scoring 34.4 points per contest, while allowing 39.4 In three of the last four LaVille games, the Lancer defense has allowed 27, 32, and 30 points for a defensive average of 29 points.
