LAKEVILLE - After taking leads to close out the first and second quarter, the basketball team couldn't get key conversions in the second half as 2A #16 Westview upended LaVille, 53-43. The Warriors came into the non-conference contest at 7-2 overall and on the upside of six of seven games. LaVille battled Westview heading into halftime, clinging to a 22-19 advantage at the break. In the third quarter, the Lancers held leads of 28-26 and 32-31, but Westview outscored LaVille 6-0 to close the quarter to take a 37-32 lead.  The Warriors hit 8 of 9 free throws to help the cause. WHS was able to maintain a 6 to 9 point advantage for much of the final stanza before the final outcome. "Westview did not shoot very well in the first half," said LaVille coach Michael Edison.  "We were able to stay with them and even take a lead into the 3rd quarter.  We had a couple of opportunities on the first 2 plays in the 2nd half as Collin Czarnecki went to the free throw line, but was only able to convert on 1 of the 4.  We just did not display enough grit in the 3rd quarter to keep our lead.  I thought Westview went on a run and we were not able to overcome it." Czarnecki led the Lancers with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lucas Plummer had 9 and 6, Michael Good 7 and 6, and Lance Edison 7 points off the bench.  Braedyn Foster hauled down 6 rebounds. Westview's Wyatt Zepp led all scorers with 15 points. WESTVIEW 53, LAVILLE 43 At Dale E. Cox Gymnasium, Lakeville, IN.
