NORTH JUDSON - It might not have been their best performance in the last handful of games, but one thing was for sure.  The defense came through again. LaVille held Wheeler to just nine points in the first half, then stayed tough in the second half to pick up a 38-25 victory over Wheeler. That Lancer win, followed by North Judson's 70-6 decision over Career Academy South Bend in the second semi, makes the sectional title game a rematch from back in January. A pair of Hoosier North foes, LaVille (11-11) tangles with NJSP (14-10) for the 2A Sectional #34 championship.  The finale is set for a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday, February 3. For LaVille, the offense was patient and effective in building a 24-9 halftime lead. The Lancer defense set the table with 84 feet of defensive pressure. Lancer junior Brooke Edison took the lead on the full court pressure 'D', as the defense recorded deflections and key steals as LHS built its lead. Coach Nicholas Amor's club was getting it done on the defensive end, holding the Bearcats leading scorers to just three total points between them. Abigail Ordonez, the senior point-guard who averaged 10 points per game, was held scoreless in the first half. Classmate  Alexandra Cutka, who looked to penetrate and either pass or shoot, had just three points. A balanced effort from Ava Weil, London Kwiatkowski, Edison, and Jasmine Foster helped build the advantage. Foster was instrumental in scoring and rebounding off the bench. In the second half, Wheeler managed to make a run at LaVille. The Bearcats held the Lancers scoreless in third quarter, while narrowing the margin to 24-16, As the fourth quarter began, Wheeler had the chance to close within two possessions, but LaVille's defense stepped up and closed the door. Amor's crew also helped the cause by making 7-of-7 from the charity line in the fourth period and 13-of-15 for the game. The LaVille and North Judson championship game will be a rematch from a barnburner on January 9.  The Blue Jays snuck past the Lancers, 42-39, in that Hoosier North showdown. Weil led all scorers with 13 points. Foster tallied 11 points to go with 10 rebounds for a double-double.  Edison finished with 7 steals.  CLASS 2A NORTH JUDSON SECTIONAL #34 LaVille 38, Wheeler 25 Score By Quarters LaVille 13 24 24 38 Wheeler 6 9 16 25 LaVille  - Lily Smith 0, Mackena Deason 0, Ava Weil 13, Brooke Edison 5, Mikalah Kuskye 5, London Kwiatkowski 4, Faith Mejer 0, Jasmine Foster 11.
