LAKEVILLE - Coming off possibly the best offensive game of the season Friday, LaVille returns to the hardwood for the next challenge on the schedule. Coach Michael Edison's club gets back in action February 17 for a non-conference affair with Elkhart Christian Academy. Junior Varsity action is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. The Eagles are 11-8 overall following a 67-19 win over Smith Academy (Fort Wayne). ECA averages 54.5 points per game and are 9-2 when scoring at least 54 points in a game.  On defense, the Eagles allow 47.5 per outing and have held 8 opponents to less than 47 points this season. Senior Aiden Hibbard leads Elkhart, averaging 21.3 points per game.  Classmate LJ Bevier adds 8.1 ppg, sophomore Kian Hibbard, Aiden's younger brother, chips in with 7.7 per outing, and sophomore Lewy Eyob contributes 6.2 ppg. Coach Chad Hibbard's crew ended a 4-game losing streak, including 3 straight overtime losses to Jimtown, Bethany Christian, and Wawasee prior to the win over Smith Academy. LaVille improved its record to 10-10 overall and 5-1 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference after a 68-51 victory over Caston.  Similar to ECA, Edison's team is also coming off a 4 straight losses, including 2-point setbacks to West Noble and Whitko, just a game ago. Friday, a hot start and a pretty solid game offensively by LaVille helped the Lancers end the losing skid and maintain pace with HNAC leader Triton.  The Trojans have two Hoosier North games left, while Knox visits Cox Gymnasium on Tuesday, February 20, to round out the HNAC schedule. Czarnecki scored a career-high 29 points to lead the LaVille offense.  Lucas Plummer had 16 points and Michael Good added 9 points. "It was huge to get off to a good start," explained Edison.  "With Lucas Plummer hitting two three-pointers and Collin Czarnecki hitting another one it really set the tone for the night.  Collin followed up with another one shortly after they called their first time out. "That was the best we shot the entire season! It was one of those games where we are up eight or nine points and it could go either direction. I was proud of the way the guys sustained a good effort for the entire duration of the game." The Eagles bring 84 feet of pressure defense, and the Lancer defense will have to keep track of several Elkhart Christian players. "ECA plays with a lot of energy," said Edison.  "They trap and press all over the court!  They beat a very good Triton squad by 10 points.  They are led by the coach's son, Aiden Hibbard.  He actually has two sons (Kian) but the oldest one (Aiden) who is a senior averages about 22 points a games, he’s one of their better rebounders, and he’s an excellent passer!  He is a good shooter and a good driver and finishes well around the rim.  They will be a very tough opponent for us." According to the Lancer skipper, his club, "... must take care of the ball and contain the older Hibbard.  The younger Hibbard has been shooting the ball very well and is scrappy just like his brother. Bevier is a very good swing player who finishes around the basket and slashes very well." Game On. LAVILLE 68, CASTON 51 At Dale Cox Gym, Lakeville, IN.
