LAKEVILLE - It's GAMEDAY for LaVille Basketball! LHS will play host to Trinity Greenlawn for 'Senior Night' as Michael Good and Lucas Plummer and their parents will be recognized. All the action gets started with the junior varsity contest at 6 p.m. Senior Night recognition is scheduled for between games, with the varsity match up between the Titans and Lancers to follow. "Michael Good and Lucas Plummer have been unbelievable players to coach over the years," LaVille coach Michael Edison said of his senior duo. "Michael really improved tremendously in the past couple of years. He has such a soft touch around the basket and has really developed into one of our better free throw shooters. He has been a great senior leader to the rest of the guys this year and has really stepped up in his all around play. He is someone we will really miss next year. "Lucas has had the tough job of being our point guard for the last few years. He is a quiet leader, but someone that all the other players on the team look up to. He has really progressed athletically and has some big games for us this year where he has attacked the basket and knocked down big buckets for us. He has such a long wingspan and is able to wreak havoc with other teams with the way he can get deflections. He does such a nice job at getting his teammates involved as he is an extremely unselfish player! He is also someone that we will truly miss next year because of his attitude, the way he treats his teammates, and the way he quietly leads the rest of the team." Trinity is 7-13 overall following a 53-40 victory over Oregon-Davis. The Titans are led by junior Nathan Skendzel at 9.0 points per game. He also adds 2.4 rebounds per game. Senior Jacob Palmer is next with 7.8 ppg and 2.6 rpg, and sophomore Ian Abbott chips in 5.7 points per outing. Senior Max Cressy is the leading rebounder, hauling down 7.0 boards per contest. Coach Alex Rowland's squad averages 37.7 points per game and have won 7 of 11 games when scoring at least 37 points or more. On defense, Trinity allows 39.3 per outing. LaVille is 11-11 overall after a 71-49 win over Hoosier North foe Knox. Collin Czarnecki posted a career-high 37 points to lead the Lancers. Lance Edison added 10 points as Edison's club finished the HNAC with a 6-1 record. "I thought there was a point in the game where we had been playing well, but were only up 9 points simply because we could not stop the (Myles) McLaughlin kid," Edison said when asked about how he felt his team performed against the Redskins. "I felt the game could go either direction and I was very pleased that we were able to stretch the game out and get critical stops." We also asked Edison about key plays or players from the Knox game. "Well, Collin Czarnecki surely will show up in the stat line as he probably shot the ball the best he has all year," Edison said. "It was great to see him have a nice game. I was extremely happy with the defense and grit that Cody Allen played with! He did an amazing job at playing post defense and taking the Knox players out of what they wanted to do. It was an overall good team effort where everyone was able to contribute in a positive way." According to Edison the Lancers are likely to face a zone defense. "Trinity has run a zone for as long as I can remember," said the LaVille skipper. "They had a long time coach who retired last year that had done an amazing job with their match up zone and the coach who took over played and coached under him. They do not do anything other than run their zone and they do an awfully good job at it. They seem to literally be everywhere as they move very quickly and match up to all the spots on the floor very well." Edison pointed to, "Skendzel, Abbott, and Palmer are a few of their top scorers. They have several guys that can knock down three pointers if they are left open. They have some quickness and really get after it on defense. They crash the boards hard and play with a lot of energy." As the Titans make their first visit to Lakeville, Edison says the Trinity zone is a concern for the Lancers. "Definitely the way they match up so quickly in their zone," explained Edison. "It is unique and something we have not played against this year. It gives other teams fits and just makes it overall very difficult for a team to get into the flow of things. "Can we break down Trinity's zone pressure and be able to get good looks? Also, can we get some easy points in transition or with some full-court pressure?" Game on. G A M E D A Y Teams: Trinity Greenlawn (7-13) at LaVille (11-11) Site: Dale E.
