SOUTH BEND - The LaVille Culinary Arts class recently visited the Cultivate Food Rescue in South Bend to help package meals. The class is currently competing in the March Meal Madness project where each organization that competes has different goals. LaVille is on a mission to raise $1,000, help package food, and get the word out about Cultivate Food Rescue through social media. So far, LV Culinary Arts is just a couple hundred dollars shy of the $1,000 target. Mrs. McNeil's class also sent a group to help package meals at Cultivate Food Rescue. The group packaged over 2,115 meals in 2 hours. McNeil's classes have also put together a couple of fundraisers to assist with the monetary portion of the challenge. "The team who wins gets bragging rights, a trophy, and a catered meal by Chef April," exclaimed McNeil. ". . . how cool would that be for LV Culinary Arts students!?" Cultivate Food Rescue's vision is to see a community with no neighbor hungry and no food wasted, especially in insecure students within the community. "We are currently in 2nd place but will be close to catching up to the 1st place spot after making our donation from the Superbowl Dip fundraiser," said McNeil. We are inviting everyone to help share our link on social media and spread the word.
