Girls Basketball Hosts Awards Recognition

LAKEVILLE - LaVille Lady Hoops recently held awards recognition night at Cornerstone Community Fellowship. The annual event started with a carry-in dinner of chicken, pizza, and sliders and concluded with a full selection of desserts. Head coach Nicholas Amor and his staff presented several awards and acknowledgement of the first sectional title in 21 years. Senior Lily Smith was selected as the Mental Attitude recipient. Senior London Kwiatkowski earned the Most Improved award, junior Brooke Edison Most Valuable, and junior Mikalah Kuskye received the Fox Hole award. Amor's club finished with a 12-12 overall record and 3-4 in the final season of the Hoosier North Athletic Conference. The Lancers longest winning streak was five games, including winning the first sectional championship since 2003. The longest losing streak this season was three games to open the season. It is the second consecutive season LaVille has finished with at least 12 victories. London Kwiatkowski and Lily Smith will pick up their diplomas on May 24. Amor expects 10 back from the state tournament roster plus four others from a junior varsity squad that finished 7-9 overall. Kwiatkowski was second on the team in rebounds, while Smith was third. Among those expected back are leading scorer junior Brooke Edison. Edison also led the team in rebounds and steals, along with second on the team in assists. Also expected to return are juniors Mikalah Kuskye (assist leader), Jasmine Foster, and Mackena Deason. sophomores Ava Weil, Madi Singleton, and Faith Mejer, along with freshmen Cloie Davis, Denni Markin, and Morgan Schmidt. Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, LaVille will join Bremen, Jimtown, John Glenn, Knox, and Tippecanoe Valley in the Indiana Northern State Conference (INSC).
