LAKEVILLE - The junior high baseball team picked up their first win of the season. Colten Schwitz hit a clutch single to the left field gap to score Jonny Yoder with the game-winning run in a 10-9 victory over Rochester. Trailing 9-7 in the bottom of the fourth, Griffen Smith hit a game-tying double, driving in Preston Eickleberry and Nolan Gundrum. Then, with the score tied at 9-9, Yoder walked, stole 2nd, and advanced to 3rd on a sac fly by Landon Swihart. Schwitz then executed for the walk-off win. Smith opened on the mound, tossing two innings, allowing two runs and striking out four. Schwitz closed out the final three innings, striking out 7 en route to the 'W'. Offensively, every Lancer got on base and six different players crossed the plate. LaVille started strong, bringing eight hitters to the plate in the first inning. LaVille (1-0) will hit the road to North Judson-San Pierre on April 18. Wayne Thomas, Tony Miller, and Dawson Beam coach the Lancers.
