NORTH JUDSON - In a battle for the top spot in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference, it took extra innings to decide Monday's game between LaVille and North Judson. The Blue Jays scored in the bottom of the 8th inning to come away with the 3-2 victory over the Lancers. With one out in the home-half of 8th, Caleb Ginder singled to left field and advanced to second. Brody Bridegroom singled to left and Ginder advanced to third base. After a fielder's choice recorded the second out of the inning, Quinn Bales came to the plate. During Bales' at-bat, Ginder was able to steal home for the game-winning run. LaVille scored one run in the first and the third inning to grab a 2-0 lead. Judson, however, was able to tie the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th to send the game into extra innings. Brayden Schwitz led the Lancer offense, going 3-for-4, including a double and an RBI. Plummer also smacked a double for LHS. Plummer and North Judson's Trey McGowen were involved in a pitcher's duel. Plummer took the loss on the bump, seven and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. McGowen earned the win for the Blue Jays. He allowed seven hits and two runs, striking out 15 and walking three. LaVille moves to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the HNAC. Judson improves to 5-2 overall and moves into a three-way tie with LaVille and Winamac at 5-1 in loop play. NJSP will travel to Lakeville for the second game in the conference series on April 30.
