LAKEVILLE - After dropping a 6-0 Hoosier North Athletic Conference contest at Knox Thursday, LaVille returned home Friday for a shot at evening the series against the Redskins. And, in spite of trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, LaVille chipped away over the final three innings for a big 9-6 victory. The Lancers were able to push across two runs in the home half of the fourth and fifth to close the gap to 6-4. Then after holding KHS scoreless in the top of the sixth, coach Brian Lawler's club was finally able to get over the hump. With two outs and a runner on first, Sean Kubsch singled and Cameron Brown was hit by a pitch to lead the bases. Lucas Plummer was able to earn a four-pitch walk to narrow the margin to 6-5. Following the Plummer walk, Knox proceeded to change pitchers. The next four batters then earned a base on balls to give LHS the lead. Brayden Schwitz, Collin Czarnecki, Andrew Wolford, and Braedyn Foster were laser-focused at the plate to record the walk and a huge five-run inning to take a 9-6 lead.  In the pivotal sixth, LHS sent 11 batters to the plate, smacking two hits, five walks and a hit batsmen to gain the advantage.  Wolford's effort from the bump was more than enough to record the final three outs and pick up the pitching win. Czarnecki led the offense with two hits, including a double, and three runs batted in. LaVille improved to 13-6 overall and 9-2 in loop play. The Lancers have a one-game lead on Caston and a one-and-a-half lead on North Judson following the completion of games played on May 11.
