SOUTH BEND - Following a weather delay at the South Bend Saint Joseph girls track and field sectional, the decision was made to hold the running events and postpone the field events. Seemed a bit strange not having field events going on. Nonetheless, more than half of Sectional #5 was completed heading into Wednesday's field events. Penn leads with 95 points, with Mishawaka at 69, and Saint Joseph with 68 points. LaVille is currently in ninth place after the running events. Leading the LaVille effort were a pair of fourth-place finishes. London Kwiatkowski sprinted to the finish line in a time of 1:03.99 in the 400m run. Although London was not in the top three, there is a chance that she could get a callback by the IHSAA to participate at the Kokomo Regional in the 400. The 4X400 relay team of Brooke Edison, Mackena Deason, Mikalah Kuskye, and Kwiatkowski clocked in at 4:22.99 to finish fourth, as well. Similarly, this group was not in the top three to advance, but could get a callback by the IHSAA for the Kokomo Regional. Day two of the Saint Joseph Sectional is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Brooke Edison is tied for the top seed in the high jump with Penn's Anna McCollough and Quinn Driscoll. Ava Fuchs is also set to compete in the high jump for the Lancers. In the discus event, Reagan Bollenbacher is a 10-seed, while Moriah Richhart has a #4-seed in the shot put.
