LAKEVILLE - Effective serving and timely net play helped LaVille pick up a 3-0 victory over Argos Wednesday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. The Lancers were coming off a 3-0 loss to Elkhart Christian Academy Tuesday and wanted to bounce back against the Dragons. Coach Pat Gring's squad started quick in each of the first two sets.  In set one, the net attack set the tone as the Lakeville hosts won the opener. Five aces during the final eight LaVille points helped seal the 'W'. Meanwhile, the service game led to a strong start in the second set, as LHS got off to a 2-0 lead. Gring's club added solid serving in the middle portion of the set, before a successful attack closed up the set. In the decisive third set, Argos scratched and clawed their way to a couple leads to make things interesting.  The Dragons took leads of 15-10 and 18-14, before Moriah Richhart served up five aces and Madi Singleton helped with a solid attack to help rally LaVille to a 21-18 lead. Argos wasn't going away quietly. The Dragons picked up a couple key attacks during a back-and-forth period to tie the set at 24-24.  AHS took a 25-24 lead and served to force a fourth set before Singleton came up with a down ball to force another tie at 25-all. LaVille, however, got a kill from Richhart, a money shot by Olivia Markin, and a match-winning serve from Faith Mejer to close out the victory. Richhart led the Lancer attack with six kills, Markin and Singleton had four, and Mejer three. A trio of setters combined for 10 assists, led by Reagan Bollenbacher. Mejer led the way with seven aces.  Avery Lee came off the bench to add six aces and Richhard had five.  Overall, LHS combined for 28 aces. LHS (2-4) is set for its third match in as many days when they travel to Bethany Christian on August 22 in a non-conference match. The junior varsity is set to serve at 5:30 p.m. In the JV match, LaVille downed Argos, 2-0.  The Lancers once again brought a strong service game with 25 total aces.
