JH XC Invite: Tyler, Top 5 Help LaVille Ladies; Garcia Helps Lancer Guys Finish 4th

LAKEVILLE - The junior high cross country team hosted the LaVille Invitational recently. In the girl's race, LaVille's Annie Tyler toured the course in 12:49.53 seconds to finish in first place overall. LaVille had its top five runners finish in the top 10 to secure the invitational team title. Sophia Edison, Acelyn Christy, Reagan Strang, and Rory Endicott all finished in under 14:20 to lead the Lancer effort. Edison finished third, Christy eighth, Strang ninth, and Rory Endicott 10th. The latter three crossed the finish line within two seconds of each other. Zahra Stackowicz, Hazelle Rowe, Cora Norman, Brynn Endicott, and Ella Edison all ran solid races and the entire LaVille team finished in the top half of the 86 total runners. LJHS finished with 31 points. Lincoln finished a close second with 39 points, while Pioneer was third with 63, John Young fourth, and Career Academy fifth. Tippecanoe Valley, Oregon-Davis, Argos, Culver Community, and Winamac participated but did not score as a team. In the boy's event, LaVille finished in fourth overall. Luis Garcia led the Lancers with a fifth-place finish. Carson Sherman finished ninth and Jace Janiak 11th. Garcia finished his course run in 11:48.90, Sherman 12:43.19, and Janiak 12:57.75. Rounding out the Lancer effort and giving a great effort were Brody Foreman, Nolan Gray, Jasper Zielomski, and Wrigley Thomas among the 102 total runners. John Young's Jayden Ortiz was the overall medalist after winning the event in 11:30.46. JYMS won the overall team event with 43 points, Lincoln had 71, Winamac 78, and LaVille 81. Rounding out the team competition were Tippecanoe Valley in fifth, followed by Career Academy South Bend, and Oregon-Davis. Argos, Pioneer and Culver Community participated but did not score as a team.
