LAKEVILLE - LaVille battled Knox in high school volleyball Thursday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium. After a slow start, the Lancers fell 3-0 to the Redskins. LaVille rallied from deficits of 5-0 and 11-2 to take a 15-13 lead in set two. Moriah Richhart, Reagan Bollenbacher and Faith Mejer helped LHS fight back to gain the advantage. The Redskins, however, used a 6-0 string to regain the lead, before scoring four of the final five points as KCHS took a two set lead. In the final set, the two teams battled back and forth the entire set, with the Lancers taking leads of 19-14 and 21-18. Knox came up with some timely attacks down the stretch to pull away 25-23 to earn its first INSC victory of the season. The Lancers now move to 5-14 overall and tied for fifth place with Knox at 1-6 in the conference standings. LHS will continue its string of eight straight INSC matches on October 1. The Lancers will travel to Bremen. The junior varsity will serve up at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow.
