LAKEVILLE - Bragging rights are on the line once again! Being in the same county and just 11.2 miles apart, it's easy to see how LaVille and John Glenn are ready for their 57th all-time meeting. The Lancers and Falcons have been playing high school football since the fall of 1966, with the Lancers leading the all-time series, 31-24-1. Friday's Indiana Northern State Conference battle can be live streamed by clicking https://www.ihsaatv.org/?B=1390508 Audio will be presented by the sports crew from MAX 98.3FM from Tony Ross and company. Join the stream at 6:30 p.m. ET It's been said by several coaches before and continues today, "throw out the rankings and throw out the records." Yep, even current LaVille head coach Jeff Kaiser joined the long line of head coaches with the same quote. John Glenn is 1-4 overall, but Kaiser says don't be deceived: "Glenn is a much better team than their record indicates! They are well coached and hungry to get a 'W' just like we are." Coach Ron Brown is in his first year at John Glenn. After winning their opening game of the season over Boon Grove, the Falcons have lost four straight. Last week, Glenn was shut out, 21-0, against Bremen. Offensively, the Falcons average 11.2 points per game, including just 7.2 during the last four games. "Offensively, they are big upfront and they mix up the running game with the passing game," says Kaiser, now in his second season at LaVille. "They like to spread you out and get some 1 on 1 mismatches. They have moved some skilled guys around a bit trying to find a good chemistry. On defense, Glenn allows 26.8 points per contest, including nearly 30 points a game in the last four outings. "Defensively we will see a 4 (man) front with aggressive LB's that will bring pressure from multiple spots and lure you into mistakes," explained Kaiser. "The 2 MLB's are confident in what they are doing and will disrupt our offense if we don't get them blocked. Upfront they are big and physical." LaVille is 2-4 overall and coming off a 57-24 loss at Knox last week. Kaiser's crew did a nice job mixing things up offensively against the Redskins. Cody Allen rushed for 160 yards, while Collin Czarnecki finished 20 of 32 for 221 yards and three touchdowns. Czarnecki completed passes to six different receivers, including seven receptions by Brayden Schwitz for 92 yards and two TDs. He did have two interceptions. "Having multiple guys making crucial plays on both sides of the ball is a crucial part in us having success moving forward," Kaiser said when asked about multiple players contributing. "All 11 guys must step up and make plays doing their job and trust one another while doing so." While the Lancers lost several players to graduation, Kaiser feels his team pulling together. "We are finding our identity on offense and moving some guys around on the defensive side," said Kaiser. "Our team's growth and maturity is coming together and this team has no quit in them." This week seven contest may be a neighborhood rivalry, but the added bonus of INSC positioning gives the game added inspiration. LHS sits in a 3-way tie for third with Bremen and Tippecanoe Valley at 1-2. John Glenn is in sixth at 0-3 and would like nothing better than to pick up their first conference victory against a fierce rival. Game On . . .
