LAKEVILLE - For the first time since 2014, the Jimtown and LaVille meet on the gridiron. A longtime rivalry in the Northern State Conference, the Jimmies and Lancers met from 1966 to 2015 before JHS moved to the Northern Indiana Conference and LHS to the Hoosier North Athletic Conference. Jimtown returns to Lakeville on Friday, October 11, for the 50th meeting at Lancer Field. The Lancers will recognize Senior Night prior to the 7 p.m. kickoff. Friday's battle is a huge late-season game, as both teams are 2-3 in the conference standings. The Jimmies are coming off a 41-28 loss to INSC-leading Knox last week. Prior to the week seven match-up, Jimtown had won four straight. "Jimtown is finding ways to win and is doing so in a convincing way," said LaVille coach Jeff Kaiser. "They mix up their running game and then will spread you out and challenge you in their passing attack." Kaiser is well-aware of the Jims running attack, and knows we have to be cognizant in our approach on defense. "Jimtown has always had really good RB's and again they have a couple that if we don't get proper angles and get into their legs they will have big gains which will open up the passing attack for them," said Kaiser. "They have a WR #2 (Javen Jackson) that is a playmaker when he's on the field and can stretch us vertically if we allow it. The QB (#8 Mason Armstrong) is pretty shifty and can make plays with his legs and arm." According to the second-year LaVille skipper, Jimtown flies to the football defensively which is led by the LB's. They will give a 5 look upfront. The Lancers must identify assignments and execute until the whistle. LaVille comes in at 3-4 overall following a 17-7 win over rival John Glenn last week. Cody Allen had a pair of touchdowns, while Collin Czarnecki added a 41-yard field goal for the Lancers. And as the season winds down, Kaiser knows they will continue to be diligent to play a full four quarters against Jimtown. "We must play 48 minutes of LaVille football, which is being disciplined, playing your assignment and making plays instead of watching plays be made," said Kaiser. "It's Senior night for a group of guys that have been a pivotal role to the last 4 years of LaVille Football. Hoping to see a big crowd to honor them and also cheer the entire team on to a victory over Jimtown." Senior football players, along with their parents, will be recognized prior to the 7 p.m. kick. At halftime, senior members of The Royal Regiment Marching Band, along with LaVille Cheer and their parents will be recognized.
