LAKEVILLE - LaVille played host to Jimtown in a Indiana Northern State Conference game at Lancer Field. The Lancers rallied from a 14-point deficit before falling 49-20 to the Jimmies on Senior Night. "We played hard and unfortunately came up short Friday night," said LaVille coach Jeff Kaiser. "I felt the kids left it all on the field and that's all a coach can ask for." Trailing 14-0, the LaVille offense took over with 3:41 left in the first quarter. Kaiser's club mixed the run and the pass effectively as they put together a 9-play drive. Cole Stafford worked the running game, while Collin Czarnecki connected with three different receivers to get the ball into the red zone. On a 2nd and 7, Czarnecki found Brayden Schwitz for a 20-yard TD reception. Then after the Lancer defense forced Jimtown's offense off the field on downs, LaVille put together another scoring drive, this time from 70 yards. Stafford once again provided the ground attack, while Czarnecki managed the drive through the air.  On a 4th and 6, Czarnecki connected with Schwitz for his second touchdown of the game from 29 yards. Czarnecki tied the game at 14-14 after adding the point-after. The Jimmies, however, fashioned two scoring drives over the final 6:15 of the second quarter to take a 28-14 lead into the locker room. Ty Zartman and quarterback Mason Armstrong reached the end zone from inside the five.  Zartman finished the game with 276 yards unofficially and three TDs. Jimtown started the second half with the ball and drove to midfield before LaVille linebacker Braedyn Foster hopped on a fumble to give LHS great field position. On the first play of the second half, Czarnecki dropped a 49-yard dime to Xzavian LaFave streaking down the right sideline to get back into the game. However, Zartman added a pair of touchdown runs to put the game away. Czarnecki finished 12 of 23 for 214 yards, an interception and three touchdown psses.  It was the second 200-yard passing game of the season for Czarnecki. The 6-foot, 3-inch senior also surpassed 1,000 yards passing with at least two games remaining on the schedule. "Our passing game continues to get better every week," said Kaiser.  "The O-Line did a great job giving Collin some time and the receivers were running routes with purpose and when we do those two things, the passing game will be successful." The Lancers were also faced with some adversity.  Going into the game, LaVille was without the services of senior back Cody Allen, who was sidelined due to illness.  Then in the second quarter sophomore Konnor Amor was in the area of a tackle when a player inadvertently fell into Amor, injuring his right ankle. "Our guys have faced adversity well," Kaiser said when asked about Allen's illness and Amor's injury.  "Having two crucial pieces out due to injury I felt like our guys played well and the guys that have stepped in are doing a really nice job."In Allen's absence, Stafford stepped in and finished with 77 yards on 18 carries. LaVille moves to 3-5 overall and finishes 2-3 in the INSC.  Jimtown improves to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the INSC, tied for first place with Knox to share the inaugural INSC title. Kaiser's crew will close the regular season at Whiting on October 18. Kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. JIMTOWN 49, LAVILLE 20 At Lancer Field, Lakeville, IN.
